Hi there! I’m Ella and I am so happy to have you here.
I’m a Restorative Health & Certified Detoxification Specialist that hails from the Great White North, a.k.a. Canada, but I currently call the beautiful Scottish Highlands my home. I’d like to share with you my own healing journey to better health and a better life.
In the beginning
My journey into alternative medicine and healing began more than 20 years ago with my own deteriorating health. In my late teens, I developed a non-fatal, but very scary heart arrhythmia called Supraventricular Tachycardia. In a nutshell, I had an electrical circuit problem in my heart and for the next decade, it would become a significant interruption in my daily life. By the time I was 26 I was having at least 1 tachycardic attack every month. That meant I had 911 on my speed dial and was taking about one ambulance ride a month by then.
Shortly before I experienced my first attack at age 17, I was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and to a world-renowned TCM Doctor and MD, Dr. Steven Aung. I saw him regularly for acupuncture sessions and traditional Chinese herbal protocols over the next few years. Unfortunately, back then I didn’t understand the nature of illness and disease and my lifestyle and habits were far from health promoting. The acupuncture helped, but it wasn’t a “cure” and the attacks did come back. This experience did, however, propel me into studying Traditional Chinese Medicine. This was the beginning of a lifelong love of learning about alternative health, but my journey was far from smooth sailing.
Looking for the answer
Throughout my twenties, my heart condition worsened and illnesses came and went. I was struggling with chronic candida and blood sugar issues, asthma, random outbreaks of hives and other seemingly unexplainable skin conditions, severe, debilitating allergies, leaky gut syndrome, anemia, anxiety, and insomnia just to name a few. As if that wasn’t enough, I was constantly sick, with either a head cold or bronchitis, sore throats and the like. Mentally, I was grappling with quite a bit as well. I was working through issues I had with a physically and emotionally abusive sibling, with insecurities, I was in and out of depression and had a general lack of direction. All of which, as you can imagine, contributed even more to my deteriorating health.
There were times when I was so desperate to not feel how I was feeling, so sick and run down with yet another skin outbreak or another anxiety attack or another head cold, and with little to no energy, that I would often spend all the money I had for food that week on anything and everything that said they had the “cure” for anyone of my ailments. There were moments, and many of them, that I thought I just could not go on like this. I
did not want to live suffering like this every single day. I attempted to tackle these issues with methodical precision- eliminating certain foods, then reintroducing them taking note of any changes or symptoms that would arise, getting blood work done to look at vitamin and mineral deficiencies, taking probiotics to increase and support beneficial gut flora. I took an excessive amount of dietary supplements, tried every diet under the sun, was on various random tinctures and herbs, and so many different types homeopathic natural remedies, I took classes and workshops and read all the books I could. But, of course, I never found a cure, only more of the same treatment-based thinking and band-aid approaches that only helped suppress symptoms rather than finding the root cause of why all this was happening in the first place.
The raw revelation
In my early thirties, I decided to it was time to make yet another change. So after 12 years of following a pesco-lacto vegetarian diet (meaning I still ate dairy and fish), I decided it was time to listen to my heart, my head and all the evidence that was piling up about how bad dairy was for my health and I (albeit very reluctantly) gave up my cheese addiction, which proved to be harder than kicking my smoking addiction in my twenties. It was not an easy feat. But my health was suffering and I was feeling desperate for some relief. So, I took the plunge and switched to a vegan diet. Within the first few weeks, my skin had improved significantly, my anxiety and depression decreased exponentially, I had more energy, I felt more connected to myself and to top it off, my asthma and allergies had almost disappeared.
I couldn’t believe how much changing this one thing helped my overall health, I knew then that I wanted to explore further down this path. I was still struggling with my allergies and skin conditions and knew I still had to do more work and research on my health. About two years later a friend of mine and I had been talking about doing a 3-week raw food detox. I had dabbled with raw foods before, but I had concluded that, although I was always intrigued by the concept, it just wasn’t for me. I had tried it at various moments over the years but just couldn’t seem to do it. I lacked energy, I definitely wasn’t eating enough and felt like I was going to pass out most of the time! Not to mention, I couldn’t digest all the raw veggies and fruits that easily, which seemed to provoke more problems, or so I thought. I had done various green smoothie and juices cleanses as well as the Master Cleanse (aka. the Lemonade Diet) without any problem, actually I really enjoyed them and how I felt when I did them. But, despite this, I had accepted that “going raw” wasn’t right for my body or blood type, or constitution or any of the various other reasons I was told I shouldn’t or couldn’t eat raw foods.
But in January of 2013 I bit the bullet…(er carrot?), tried again and did a 3-week raw food “reset” and you wouldn’t guess what happened.
My asthma completely disappeared! My eczema was gone, my severe allergies no longer existed, my candida issues cleared up and my blood sugar levels balanced themselves out- no more high highs and low lows. I was no longer anemic (when I did blood tests months later), I had massive amounts of energy and my gut issues seemed to work themselves out! It was life-changing. Nothing and I mean nothing I had ever tried before, did for me what 3 weeks of raw foods did.
Naturally, I started learning everything I could about raw foods and all the variations of eating raw (high fat, low fat, gourmet raw, fruitarian etc.), I experimented yet again on my body and from there I discovered Doug Graham’s The 80/10/10 Diet, (total game-changer), then I found information on fasting and detoxification and that led me to find Natural Hygiene, and all the amazing teachers that have stemmed from that school of thought; Arnold Erhet, Bernard Jensen and my own beautiful teacher, Dr. Robert Morse and his own teachings on health, nutrition and reversing disease (life-changing). I would say I owe my life to these people and this information.
the next level
There was a time when I could never have imagined giving up meat, but then I did. There was a time I could never have imagined giving up cheese, but then I did. And for most of my life, I could never have imagined that chronic illness, extreme, debilitating, allergies, depression, candida, eczema and gut issues could have ever gone away completely – but they all did. Plant-based foods are no joke, they are life-changing, to be sure, but raw foods, fruit specifically- that is next level- they are life-promoting, life-affirming and above all, life-saving.
A few years ago, after following Dr. Morse and his work online for several years, I finally chose to study under him in his school, The International School of Detoxication and Cellular Regeneration, in Punta Gorda, Florida. In the certification program, I was taught the art of detoxification, because it really is an art. It takes a great knowledge of the lymphatic system and how the body really works to be able to understand health fully. Through this program, I learned about the nature of dis-ease in the body, how it is created, and the necessity for the body to eliminate properly in order to prevent illness and disease. The body is a pretty powerful organism and when properly supported and nourished, it has the ability to heal itself on the inside, just as it can heal scars on the outside.
My formal studies took me through herbal protocol and diet for healing
anything from terminal illness and degenerative disease to psoriasis, lymphatic health, cellular regeneration, alkalinity and acidity within the body and the effects of both. It was one of the richest experiences of my life and I am now certain of my path and this is it.
I now sit here, writing this, filled with valuable information from a life of research, experimentation, formal and non-formal training and ready help others heal and get their lives back as I did mine. Whether you have a specific condition you’re suffering from or just want to gain some more energy and vitality, I can walk you through it all, step by step. With a little guidance, your health can change and your body can heal itself of almost anything. Diet and detoxification are the golden keys to health and healing, so please do reach out via my contact page if you´d like to talk more.
Big Love, Deep Gratitude & Vibrant Health,
