You’ve heard it. We all have. That tiny voice inside your head, way back there, that has said a time or two that, “things need to change” or maybe it was a “you need to start eating differently, better…” But, unfortunately for us, we’re taught differently, we are surrounded by a different message. The not so good “food” for us is the cheaper food choice. Every commercial, every grocery store, the dairy industry, the meat industry, even the doctors and medical industry constantly tell you otherwise. Must eat meat. Must get your protein. Must drink milk. And when that gives you heartburn, or indigestion, or your hemorrhoids come back, or you’re constipated, take this pill, and if that doesn’t work there’s a dozen more you can choose from. It’s nothing new. It might seem like the status quo is to be dependent on medications, to be sick, to not ever really be well. Why? Because keeping us sick is good for business. Because our medical system and our framework for treating disease is just that – to treat, not to heal. We are told that we have to live with certain diseases and conditions, we are told that we must continue these medications and the bottom line is this, it’s deceptive, it’s oppressive, it’s inaccurate information.
So how can you hone in on your own alarm system and listen to what your body is trying to tell you amidst the noise of big pharma, or the dairy and meat industry’s agendas, amidst your friends and family that are telling you to stop being so extreme?
We start by turning off the outside noise and going inward. We want to be well. We want to not be sick. We are longing to wake up in the morning with energy. But we need to start listening to ourselves rather than the industries that make money off of our being sick. We need to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe they might not always have our best interests at heart. And once we stop, take a look around and realize how many people are actually sick and/or dying – we see the truth of these industries and just how programmed we are to tune our inner alarm system out and listen to those that are making money off of keeping us dependent and unwell. It’s uncomfortable. It really is. It is frustrating and can leave us feeling disempowered and as if we’ve been taken for fools. And sadly, we have been. But it doesn’t have to be disempowering. It is actually the contrary because once we’re aware of this, once we go inward and tune in to our own voice and truth, to what our symptoms are really telling us – that’s where the power lies. That’s where the reconnection happens, where the hamster starts running on the wheel again and all of a sudden we realize we are back in the driver’s seat ready to take our health into our own hands, ready to eat better, to eat well, to feel well.
There’s power in accepting what has been and waking up to what can be. There’s momentum behind it and it will propel you into eating better and wanting more for yourself or your family. It’s there for the taking, you just have to start listening to your own voice, start asking why you’re feeling this way, start asking why or how this developed, listen to the symptoms you’re experiencing – stop suppressing them with pills because that’s what they want you to do, that’s where we lose our power. Choose it. Choose to wake up and take back your health and your life.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend giving these a watch. They are eye-opening and for some will be life-changing. Happy watching. xo
